About Us

Dallas Community School is breaking the mold of traditional education—where curiosity drives learning, students take charge of their education, and the community becomes the classroom—engaging, empowering, and equipping them for a lifetime of growth and discovery!

Our Vision and Founding
A decade ago, two visionary parents set out to redefine education—creating a school where learning is personalized, parent choice is central, and equity is a priority. To make this vision a reality, they founded Community Innovation Partners, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and partnered with Dallas School District 2 to launch Dallas Community School (DCS)—a public charter school supporting home learners with high-quality, in-person educational opportunities.

Expanding to High School
Recognizing the need for an in-person high school model, we launched Dallas Community High School (DCHS) in 2022. Unlike traditional schools, our approach prioritizes project-based learning, student agency, and real-world applications. Students take pride in showcasing their achievements through exhibitions, preparing them for college and careers. In 2025, our first graduating class will mark this milestone, representing a growing student body that continues to expand each year.

A Home in the Heart of the Community
From humble beginnings in a small house in 2015, DCS has outgrown its facilities twice and now calls downtown Dallas home. Our K-8 program is housed in a spacious two-story building, featuring "The Living Room" as a central hub for learning and community events. Across the street, our high school campus resides in a remodeled historic bank building, offering a modern and dynamic learning environment. The original bank safe remains intact and will soon be transformed into a cutting-edge sound studio and green room—fueling student creativity.

A Commitment to Personalized Learning
Built into our model at Dallas Community School is a dedication to small class sizes and individualized education. We serve home learners, students seeking personalized pathways, and those who thrive in non-traditional settings.

Our Promise
At Dallas Community School, the community is our classroom. We are committed to engaging, empowering, and equipping students for a lifetime of learning and success.

Summer Break!

What a year 2025-2026 was! We hope all of our families have a great summer break! The school offices will be closed for the month of July, and staff will be unavailable for in-person visits or phone calls during that time.

We’ll be back in August and excited to welcome families again as we gear up for the new school year. If you contact us in July, please know we’ll respond as soon as we return in August. Enjoy your summer!
K8 Enrollment With Absorb

Enrolling in our K-8 Program

Our entire enrollment process is completed online through Absorb, our learning platform. As part of the process, you’ll watch four videos (about 20 minutes each). These videos offer a deep dive into our school model so you can determine whether DCS is the right fit for your family.

At the end of the video series, a link will be sent to you to fill out a form and book a meeting with our K8 Assistant Director. During that meeting, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions.

We look forward to meeting you!

Mission & Culture

At Dallas Community School, learning is anything but one-size-fits-all. We’ve built a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and curiosity—where students feel supported, creativity thrives, and learning is a shared adventure. Guided by our E3 model—Engage, Empower, Equip—we foster growth, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Mission Statement:
Through our E3 model at Dallas Community School, we ENGAGE students by fostering curiosity, EMPOWERING them through meaningful, real-world learning experiences, and EQUIP them with the skills needed to make a positive impact in their communities.

Engage: We spark curiosity with interactive, meaningful learning experiences that connect students to a broader world of knowledge.

Empower: We foster an inclusive community where every student feels seen, heard, and supported, embracing diversity as a strength.

Equip: We prepare students with the academic and life skills needed to navigate an ever-changing world with confidence and purpose.

These principles guide everything we do, shaping a learning environment where students thrive.

Our Culture:
At Dallas Community School, community is our classroom—collaboration, flexibility, and real-world connections shape everything we do. Our K-8 home-learning model gives families the freedom to personalize education while providing in-person enrichment classes that build social skills, teamwork, and confidence. These classes, along with community events and service opportunities, help students grow beyond academics.

Across the street, Dallas Community High School takes learning even further with project-based experiences, student-driven exhibitions, and hands-on engagement with local businesses and organizations. Whether learning at home with structured support or thriving in an interactive high school setting, every DCS student is part of a culture where curiosity thrives, individuality is celebrated, and our community plays a vital role in shaping the learning experience.
